Birth Trauma Week
This week we are focusing on birth trauma in commemoration of international birth trauma week.
1 in 3 women would consider their birth to have been a traumatic experience and birth partners often describe it to be traumatic too.
It is common that when left untended to, birth trauma continues to have an effect as time goes on. This can lead to pressure on relationships, mental health and of course, the body.
Birth trauma may also be linked to PTSD, PND and PNA and in some severe cases, PPP.
With the right the support and resources to debrief and work through the experience we can begin to heal and make sense of our experience.
Birth and parenthood should be something positive, empowering.
We offer birth trauma debriefing sessions with our educational midwife as well as psychotherapy to explore emotions surrounding the event. We examine ways to move forward so that you can get back to enjoying your life with your loved ones.
Watch below to hear Arielle chat a bit about what birth trauma looks like and ideas for different ways to heal.
